The dynamics of our lives have been constantly changing given the circumstances we are currently going through as humanity.
Have you ever said to yourself "I wish the day had more hours" or "time is not enough". By taking care of some simple details you can get to considerably optimize your time.
These are some of the aspects that I have put into practice to improve my professional routine (especially during the remote working period) and some other relevant personal activities:
Know your peak performance periods: all of us have a different energy level during the day and this will be affected by internal and external forces. Identify at what time of day you have your energy peaks and perform the most difficult and demanding tasks during this time range.
Have an Action List or To-Do List: this is a very important aspect, since it allows you not only to record all the tasks that you have to complete, but you can also assign priorities to them, which will allow you to focus on those tasks that are most urgent.
Set realistic and achievable actions - especially when it comes to very ambitious tasks. It may be more beneficial to break these tasks down into smaller, more easily achievable actions. This will help you stay motivated.
Keep your calendar updated: not only with your work meetings but with the milestones or deadlines with which you have committed. It is advisable to manage a single calendar that contains all your activities, in this way you will have the real picture of your time, but remember, don't overload yourself.
Establish limits: especially during working hours and for those activities that may disturb the efficiency of your time (mobile phone use, internet distractions, etc). Taking short breaks is important, but remember to stick to the schedule. In this case, an alarm can be beneficial to respect the limits.
Reward yourself: to encourage self-motivation, you can implement self-rewards after reaching a relevant activity. This will help you to keep a positive attitude.
What about you? Are you already making the most out of your time? It's amazing how you can improve your performance by putting these simple aspects into practice. In my personal case, I have been able to optimize my time to successfully cover not only my professional tasks but also carry out extra-professional activities such as academic consultancies, Thesis, language courses, PMP preparation, blogging, etc.
